Graphics cards very slowly, but still getting cheaper

Share

There are many signs that the situation in the graphics card market is gradually normalizing. According to 3DCenter reports, the latest AMD and Nvidia GPUs are currently the cheapest since early 2021.

Many gamers are still waiting for the video card market to normalize, waiting for the right time to buy them. The analysts site 3DCenter argues that the price hype in the GPU segment is gradually coming to an end, as can be seen in the estimates of individual models.

An analysis of the proposals of German electronics stores shows that the prices of GeForce RTX 3000 and Radeon RX 6000 family graphics systems are higher by 41 and 35% respectively from the manufacturer’s recommended prices. Of course, this is still noticeably higher than the market should look, but it is also the lowest prices since last January.

Prices for the latest graphics chips from Nvidia and AMD have been dropping regularly since December 2021, when in-store offerings were more than 80% above recommended prices. This is also much better than last May’s record high of 216%.

The availability of graphics cards is also improving dramatically, both for top models like the GeForce RTX 3080 or Radeon RX 6800 XT as well as for the cheapest models. There are many indications that the market situation is influenced by both relatively low prices for cryptocurrencies, as well as the ever-increasing supply of new systems, allowing for lower GPU prices.
