Instagram is bringing a new feature to Stories. Meta has decided to allow longer videos to be posted.

Instagram allows videos to be added to Stories, but they cannot be longer than 15 seconds. Otherwise, the app cuts them into smaller chunks, which can then be placed in separate posts.

Instagram has begun testing a new option that allows longer videos to be added to Stories. They will be able to last up to 60 seconds. Meta probably wants in this way to fight more successfully for users with TikTok, which recently allowed videos up to 3 minutes long. The plan is to allow videos up to 5 minutes long to be posted.

At the moment, the novelty is not publicly available. A pilot program is ongoing, where a maximum of 60-second videos can only be posted to Instagram Stories by selected users. The new post publishing interface, which makes it easier to mention other accounts and add locations, is also being tested. It is not yet known when these changes will be available to all users.
