Continuous technological development and easy access to information make the audio-animatronics underlying Disney theme park attractions no longer impressive. To appeal to customers, the company decided to develop a division whose goal would be to train realistic robots that mimic the behavior of well-known and beloved characters.
Recently, a short video appeared on the Internet, in which the Atlas robots, created by Boston Dynamics, overcome an obstacle course without much trouble, thus showing that we are slowly approaching the era of humanoid robots. It looks like Disney is planning to prepare something similar, as the New York Times writes more about, asking Twitter users if they’re ready for “robots with feelings.” As you can easily guess, the video has caused quite a stir.
