Seagate has introduced a 3.5-inch hard drive that boasts an enormous capacity. How much data can you fit on it?
Seagate’s new drive has a capacity of 16 TB. Seagate was able to achieve this capacity through the use of HAMR (heat-assisted magnetic recording) technology.
The new drives will not only be used to collect data in server rooms, but they will also find use in small companies and in the homes of private users.
The manufacturer plans to create an even larger HDD drive by 2020, which this time will boast a capacity of about 20 TB.
